Please join us for special work party at the Palmetum in the morning of Saturday, September 12.
As you may know, the Palmetum was founded by members of the Northern California Palm Society in 1982. The garden features over 70 to 80 species and varieties of subtropical, cool-climate Mediterranean, and high-altitude tropical palms that thrive in the coastal fog belt. Notable specimens include wax palms, mountain coconuts, and Quito palms,

NCPS member, Will Abel, has recently taken on the role as lead steward for the garden, working closely with Oakland City Parks, to maintain and hopefully expand the garden. Will hosts monthly work parties every 2nd Saturday of the month and always welcomes fellow members joining him.
The September Work Party is an extra special one as the gardens will be featured in the Autumn Lights Festival (Oct 15-17).
Please come join fellow members on September 12th and help get the Palmetum ready for its starring role in the festival.
Please register and your confirmation will include: - Will's contact info - Directions and parking info - What to bring with you (gloves, hand tools, shears, weeding tools) - Link to online waiver form required by the City of Oakland
We will have coffee and water available. Thank you for your support.
